There's a particular quiet that settles in when you're working a jigsaw — the world narrows to shapes and colors, and the day's noise drops into the background. For a lot of our users BrainsBreaker has become more than a game: a way to wind down, to slow a racing mind, to land softly before sleep. We could describe it ourselves, but the people who play it every day put it better.
First, let me say that I consider the $20 I spent on this software the best deal I ever got. This is my zen thing, the thing that I do on the weekends to forget the world. I have spent MANY happy hours exploring forests, mountains, architecture, etc.

Psychologists have a name for the state puzzlers know well — flow, full absorption in something that engages you without stressing you. A jigsaw is almost built for it. Each piece is a small, solvable problem; each match a tiny reward. Your attention gets somewhere gentle to rest, and there's no room left for the day's worries to keep circling. No clock, no score, no losing — you set the pace and the puzzle waits. That same unhurried rhythm is why it doubles as a favorite for focus.
BrainsBreaker is one of the main things that keeps me calm during all the covid lockdown.

I have suffered with depression for over 35 years. My discovery is that daily use of your puzzle program allows me to function comfortably without fear of relapse. It is an amazing dawn for me.

There's a difference between numbing out and winding down. Scrolling leaves most of us more restless than before; a puzzle leaves something behind — a finished picture, a small sense of having done a thing. It gives back: healthy time instead of noise, a quiet bit of exercise for the eye and memory along the way. And because picking it up takes one click with nothing to set up or clear away, the ritual stays easy enough to keep. The images help, too — half an hour assembling a forest path or a lake is half an hour spent looking at something lovely, often your own photo.
